    Homemade Turkey Sausage

Looking for an easy homemade healthy turkey breakfast sausage recipe? This is a super easy, super tasty, healthy gluten-free recipe for turkey sausage that will be perfect for the Paleo, Whole30 or Autoimmune Protocol diet.

    Homemade Turkey Sausage

    Auto-Immune Protocol Diet

Several months ago, my husband and I tried the Auto-Immune Protocol diet to identify foods that were affecting our health.

The AIP diet is a hardcore version of the Paleo diet that you do for one month as a food elimination diet. A big part of the diet is to have no processed foods.

The hardest meal for us to make in the AIP diet was breakfast because you can’t eat eggs or grains. It pretty much left us with fruit, meat, and sweet potatoes. So, I came up with a recipe for gluten-free turkey sausage that would also be good for AIP diet, Keto, Whole30 and Paleo diet followers.

An easy protein packed healthy breakfast.

I bought the 3lb package of ground turkey for this recipe. Not only is it economical, but it saves time and prep work because these gluten-free sausages freeze well.

You can either defrost them in your refrigerator or reheat them in your microwave. I also cook them on a large griddle so I can cook a large batch of them quickly. We ate these gluten-free turkey sausages, along with our baked sweet potato or fruit, every morning for 30 days.

I HIGHLY recommend the AIP diet if you are struggling with any health issues.  It will help you pinpoint what foods are causing inflammation and affecting your health.

I can honestly tell you after the initial withdrawal period of the AIP diet, I have never felt better. Oh and a bonus of the API diet is you will lose weight too. Yay for that!

We were able to pinpoint what specific food we needed to eliminate from our diet, besides gluten. It really helped me realize that I could eat whole foods, stay away from sugar and feel SO much better because of it.

We are now doing a modified version of the AIP diet, where we have added eggs and some grains back into our diet.

Even if you are not doing an AIP or Paleo diet this is a super easy, super tasty, healthier version of morning breakfast sausage, and of course it’s gluten-free too!

Could SF syrup be substituted for the maple syrup?

Hi Susan! Yes you could use a sugar-free syrup in place of maple syrup. I hope you enjoy the turkey sausage patties.

I added ground ginger and omitted the thyme and they were fantastic! Cooked them up in some coconut oil with a side of sweet potatoes. So good!
