This Easy 5-Minute Gluten-Free Gravy Recipe is made with only three simple ingredients. You can use any flavor of gluten-free broth and the recipe does not require any drippings. It's the perfect gluten-free gravy for all of your holiday meals!
2tablespoonsbutterDairy-free use Smart Balance butter
1/4cup all-purpose gluten-free flour (or 3 tablespoons of cornstarch to make a slurry)See notes on how to make a slurry.
2 cupsgluten-free brothYou can make your own broth by using gluten-free bouillon cubes or gluten-free granules bouillons. You can also use turkey drippings (please see notes).
Add the butter to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Once the butter is melted add the gluten-free flour (or cornstarch slurry) to the pan and stir until combined to make a roux. Whisk for 2-3 minutes, until the butter turns golden brown and the gluten-free flour is fully dissolved and clump-free.
Add the gluten-free broth to the roux (butter mixture), stirring constantly with a whisk, and bringing to a boil.
Boil for 1 minute and season with salt, pepper, and thyme (optional).
Serve warm and enjoy!
Store leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
Reheat leftovers in the microwave or stovetop.
Notes
You can use gluten-free chicken, beef, or vegetable broth.
You can make your own broth by using gluten-free bouillon cubes or gluten-free granule bouillon.
To use turkey drippings: cool to room temperature first. Taste before adding to other ingredients as it may need to be watered down if the flavor is too strong.
To make a cornstarch slurry: whisk together 2 tablespoons of cold water and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch together until smooth.
Dairy-free option: use Smart Balance butter or your favorite dairy-free butter.
