Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets
Friend, I am going to be honest with you. When I went gluten-free in 2010, chicken nuggets were an important staple in my children’s diet.
My first two children were little at the time and my son was a very picky eater. Finding a good homemade gluten-free chicken nugget recipe was a necessity.
Gluten-Free Bisquick
Luckily on the back of my favorite gluten-free product, gluten-free Bisquick, was a recipe for gluten-free chicken tenders.
If you don’t have gluten-free Bisquick you can make your own using this recipe from This Mama Loves.
If you know anything about a picky toddler, you cannot mess with what their food looks like, so tenders were out of the question.
I was able to modify the recipe a bit and came up with the best homemade gluten-free chicken nugget recipe that is seasoned perfectly and has just the right amount of crust.
Easy Homemade Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets
In a few easy steps, you can have homemade gluten-free chicken nuggets.
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray the baking sheet with gluten-free cooking spray.
- Place the gluten-free Bisquick mix, parmesan cheese, paprika, and garlic salt in a large plastic storage bag.
- Cut chicken breasts into nugget size pieces. An easy way to cut chicken breasts into nugget size pieces is to cut the chicken breasts in half and then in half again. Cut the chicken quarter pieces into nugget size pieces.
- Place the chicken pieces in the bowl of beaten egg. Stir the chicken until the pieces are fully covered in egg. (photo 2)
- Place the egg covered chicken pieces into the plastic storage bag with the gluten-free Bisquick mixture. Turn the bag over and over again until the chicken pieces are fully coated with the gluten-free Bisquick mixture. (photo 3 &4)
- Place the coated chicken on the greased baking sheet. Drizzle the melted butter over the chicken. (photo 5 & 6)
- Bake for 20 minutes and until golden brown. (photo 7)
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
The best gluten-free chicken nuggets are ones you make yourself.
You get to control exactly what is going in them and they are completely fresh and delicious.
They are now a weekly meal in our home that both our littles and our bigs love. Oh and Mama and Daddy enjoy them too.

Delicious and addicting! So fun to have “Chick-fil-A” nuggets again!! These are super quick and easy to make and they turn out great every time. I used Aldi’s cheddar biscuit mix since I didn’t have the suggested pancake mix, and the Aldi cheddar biscuit mix has buttermilk powder in it, which I think is the key! I also added smoked paprika instead of regular paprika to give it a little bit of a smokey flavor.
This make a lot of food! Enough for 3-4 adult portions. They reheat really well too!
These were so good! Followed recipe except for the butter. Trying to be healthy, so just sprayed with PAM, and they were still delicious! Thank you for a great recipe!
These are really really good. Even non-gluten free husband couldn’t tell difference. Be sure to put on the melted butter/margarine before putting into oven. Served with Panda Express chili sauce

Curious as to the purpose of the melted butter drizzled over the chicken prior to cooking? Have never seen that before.
Thank you
Shelly
Hi Shelly! It helps make the nuggets be crispier being oven baked. I hope you enjoy the chicken nuggets.
Fantastic, thank you for this recipe! I used a GF dry pizza crust mix instead of the Bisquick and it worked well.
